We created a unique interactive design experience in the lobby of the new 84.51º building in Cincinnati. As visitors move through the lobby, an animated sequence leaves a trail of graphics in their wake. The trail is made of 84.51º branded shapes, colors and icons. It is a visual representation of how modern shoppers leave footprints of shopping data. Data such as behavior, shopping habits, purchases, locations, time, frequency make up a shopper’s “Digital Dust”. This “Digital Dust” accumulates into a massive amount of data. 84.51º collects this data using Customer Loyalty cards. They then analyze that data and form insights to all facets of the retail experience. Our interactive feature integrates into the environmental branding throughout the building.

 

The interactive design used a special system that links a computer to three high-powered, large projectors hanging above the lobby. The computer and projectors work in tandem to track visitors’ paths through the lobby and project our custom designed “Digital Dust” animation behind them. The dust moves, grows, and continues to animate around the visitor for their entire time in the lobby. Aspects of the digital dust can be seen throughout the building in the large-scale lenticular graphic designed for the lobby, elevator features, and a custom hanging sculpture designed for the atrium.
