Miami University asked us to help them brand a new dining facility on the renovated East Quad. We worked with a team from GBBN, as well as MU’s Architecture, Interiors and Food Services departments to get started. Then, we developed an identity for the new facility, Garden Commons. The unique facility is a combination of four individual spaces, each intended to have a seasonal theme. Building on that concept, we designed a logo that changes with the seasons. The graphic elements and color palettes also informed the large wall decor. Other environmental design elements were sprinkled throughout the seasonally-themed spaces.

The Fall room takes the leaf elements from the logo and arranges them in random patterns. Some patterns are illustrated with the autumn color spectrum and others with historical images of students.

The environmental design themes from inside continue outside the building. A series of seasonally colored, waterjet-cut logos set off the architecture and provide a link to the seasonal theme within the facility.
